Hero's EV brand VIDA makes its first move abroad, into Nepal
Hero MotoCorp's electric brand VIDA, VX2 scooter range has entered Nepal, its first market outside India
Hero MotoCorp's electric brand VIDA has entered Nepal, its first market outside India, launching the VX2 scooter range and the DIRT.E K3 youth off-roader through a distribution tie-up with the Chaudhary Group's CG Motors.
The launch is VIDA's global debut and the first test of whether Hero can carry the EV business it has built at home since 2022 into other markets. It is a light-touch entry, distributor-led rather than a local plant, into a country where Hero has sold petrol two-wheelers since 2014 and where VIDA will line up against Ather, TVS iQube and Bajaj's Chetak.
The VX2 range comes in two variants: the VX2 Plus, a 4.4 kWh dual-battery model the company says delivers about 140 km of real-world range and a 90 km/h top speed, and the VX2 Go, a 2.2 kWh version claimed at about 75 km and 70 km/h. Both use removable batteries and support DC fast charging. The DIRT.E K3 is an adjustable electric off-roader for young riders, with app-based parental speed limits. VIDA says the VX2 ranked highest in JD Power's India Two-Wheeler Initial Quality Study, and that the DIRT.E K3 has won a Red Dot Design Award 2025 and a CES Innovation Award 2026. Prices for Nepal are to be announced by CG Motors.
VIDA is Hero MotoCorp's EV brand, launched in India in October 2022; it has since crossed 200,000 retail sales at home. Hero describes itself as the world's largest two-wheeler maker by volume.
Hero frames Nepal as the start of VIDA's global operations. Whether more markets follow, and on what model, is the thing to watch.
