Hyundai adds 7,000 Jio-bp chargers to its India network
Hyundai EV owners can now use Jio-bp’s charging network through the myHyundai app, adding more than 7,000 points across 300 cities. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Taking access past 37,000 points
Hyundai Motor India has integrated Jio-bp’s public charging network into its myHyundai app, giving its electric vehicle customers access to more than 37,000 charging points across India, up from over 30,000 previously.
The tie-up adds more than 7,000 Jio-bp pulse charging points across over 300 cities. Hyundai said the Jio-bp network includes high-capacity DC fast chargers ranging from 60 kW to 480 kW, allowing vehicles to charge at their maximum hardware capability, and that the network operates at 96 percent uptime.
Charging access, rather than vehicle availability, remains the main constraint on electric vehicle adoption in India, and manufacturers have increasingly moved to aggregate third-party networks inside their own apps rather than build charging infrastructure themselves. That shifts the competition from who owns chargers to who can offer the most complete map.
The integration means Hyundai customers can locate, access and pay for Jio-bp charging without leaving the myHyundai app. Neither company disclosed financial terms of the arrangement, or whether Hyundai customers receive preferential pricing on the Jio-bp network.
Jio-bp is the mobility joint venture between Reliance Industries and BP. Hyundai Motor India, listed since 2024, sells the Creta Electric and Ioniq 5 in India.
