Hyundai formally inaugurates Pune plant, reiterates 2030 expansion plan
Hyundai says its Pune plant has annual installed capacity of 1.7 lakh vehicles, with phased expansion planned to 3.2 lakh by 2030. The company lists investment of up to INR 11,000 crore at the facility.
Hyundai Motor India has formally inaugurated its Pune manufacturing plant, reiterating plans to increase the facility's annual installed capacity from 1.7 lakh vehicles to 3.2 lakh by 2030.
The October 14 ceremony at Talegaon was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung. It marks a formal inauguration rather than the start of production: Hyundai had already reported the plant's commencement during FY26.
The company says it will invest up to INR 11,000 crore at Pune in phases. That figure describes its investment programme, rather than money newly committed or fully spent on the inauguration day.
Hyundai says the new Venue is manufactured exclusively at the Pune plant and exported from India, with plans to expand its export reach to more than 35 countries. The release does not disclose Pune's actual vehicle output or utilisation.
Supplier development forms part of the manufacturing expansion. Hyundai reports 55 supplier partners operating in Pune and nearly INR 4,600 crore invested by its Tier 1 supplier ecosystem in Maharashtra. It also reports more than 18,000 employment opportunities across Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers. These are company-reported ecosystem figures, not Hyundai's direct employee count or spending.
The facility's production systems are designed to support multiple internal-combustion and hybrid models in future, according to the company. That capability does not establish a current hybrid-production programme or launch date.
Combined with Chennai, Hyundai expects annual installed vehicle capacity to reach nearly 11.4 lakh by 2030. Its May results announcement had already set out that national capacity target.
For the Pune expansion, the next operating measures will be additional capacity commissioned, model allocation, utilisation and export orders. The release does not specify the phase-wise capital spending or output schedule.
