Hyundai Motor India Foundation empowers 1,000 women
Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) distributed 1,000 sewing machines to empower marginalised women in Tittagudi Taluk, Cuddalore district, fostering inclusive development and sustainable livelihoods. The machines were handed over by Thiru C.V. Ganesan, Hon’ble Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill Development, Government of Tamil Nadu, in the presence of Mr. Gopalakrishnan C. S., Trustee – HMIF, Mr. Jeongick Lee, Executive Director – Corporate Affairs, HMIL, and Mr. Beom Ryeong Song, Vertical Advisor – Corporate Communication and Social, HMIL

Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), has handed over 1,000 domestic tailoring machines to women across 109 villages in Tittagudi Taluk, Cuddalore District, Tamil Nadu. This initiative aims to promote self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods among women from marginalized communities.

The machines were formally handed over by Thiru C.V. Ganesan, Hon’ble Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill Development, Government of Tamil Nadu, in the presence of Mr. Gopalakrishnan C S, Trustee – HMIF, Mr. Jeongick Lee, Executive Director – Corporate Affairs and Mr. Beom Ryeong Song - Vertical Advisor, Corporate Communication and Social, HMIL.

Thiru C.V. Ganesan, Hon’ble Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill Development, stated, “This initiative by Hyundai Motor India Foundation is a commendable example of corporate social responsibility in action. By equipping women in rural Tamil Nadu with the means to earn a livelihood, HMIF is directly contributing to the socio-economic upliftment of some of the most underserved sections of our society. These efforts align closely with the Government’s vision of inclusive development and skill-based empowerment. I sincerely appreciate HMIF’s dedication to improving lives at the grassroots level.”
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Gopalakrishnan C S, Trustee – HMIF, said, At Hyundai, we believe that progress is meaningful only when it is inclusive. By providing tailoring machines to women from vulnerable backgrounds, we are not just offering a tool for additional income generation—we are enabling a pathway to dignity, confidence, and long-term stability. These women are the backbone of their families and communities and empowering them economically creates a ripple effect of positive change. We are proud to stand beside them in their journey toward self-reliance and resilience.”

This marks the third phase of HMIF’s regional development programme in Cuddalore district. Previous phases included the donation of two Advanced Life Support ambulances in 2023 and essential health care equipment in 2024, reinforcing Hyundai’s commitment to holistic community upliftment.
