India’s manufacturing sector increasingly attractive to global investors

S&P Global India Research Chapter’s latest report 'India Forward: Transformative Perspectives' highlights that India is poised to maximize opportunities as the global trade and cooperation environment evolves. India has grown visibly in size, scale and international impact over the past three decades and is on track to become the world’s third-largest economy by fiscal 2030-31.

Some of the key findings of the report are:

  • India has made notable progress in enhancing its competitiveness and making its manufacturing sector more attractive to global investors. As economies adapt to evolving trade dynamics and tariff challenges, India can capitalize on this momentum for accelerated manufacturing growth and greater global supply-chain integration. (See “India’s manufacturing opportunity amid global trade uncertainty”)
  • India is focusing on alternative energy sources to create a cleaner, self-reliant transport future. Adoption of biofuels is a part of this push. Biofuels offer a triple-win solution to the country’s growing need for sustainable energy sources amid rising environmental concerns—by addressing energy security, reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and enhancing income opportunities for the agricultural sector. (See “Balancing India’s biofuels equation”)
  • India is set to pursue a path where energy security meets revenue security. Recent regulatory changes present an opportunity as India looks to enhance crude oil exploration and development to achieve self-sufficiency. (See “Policy and investment outlook for oil exploration and production in India”)

'India Forward' is prepared by S&P Global and Crisil’s cross-divisional India Research Chapter, an initiative of the S&P Global India Leadership Council. This Chapter provides distinct thought leadership on India by combining local expertise, global perspectives and its full suite of capabilities.
