MG Windsor Pro

India stands at the cusp of a transformative mobility revolution. As the global shift toward sustainable transportation accelerates, the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market is gradually gathering momentum—driven by government incentives, heightened environmental consciousness, and rapid advancements in technology. While challenges such as high costs and limited infrastructure persist, the trajectory is unmistakable: EVs are no longer a niche innovation but a national imperative.
India’s electric vehicle (EV) market is gaining serious traction, with EVs accounting for over 2.5% of total passenger vehicle sales in FY24—up from just 1.3% in FY22. While still modest, this growth represents a nearly 100% year-on-year increase, powered by policy incentives, expanding model lineups, and rising fuel costs. Government projections aim for 30% EV penetration by 2030, while industry analysts estimate it could reach 7–10% by FY28, provided supply chains and infrastructure keep pace.
Amidst this fast-evolving landscape, JSW Group, one of India’s leading industrial conglomerates, has made a decisive move into the automotive sector. In late 2023, JSW partnered with MG Motor India—a subsidiary of China’s SAIC Motor—forming a joint venture with plans to invest over ₹5,000 crore and expand capacity to 300,000 vehicles per year. By July 2025, JSW announced it would raise its stake to over 80%, effectively taking control of the venture.
JSW’s entry into the EV race is not just a diversification strategy—it’s a bid to become a serious contender in India’s next big industrial wave: clean mobility. As the JV targets 1 million EV and hybrid sales by 2030, it reflects broader shifts in both corporate strategy and national priorities in building a greener, self-reliant automotive ecosystem.

The MG Windsor has already carved a name for itself as a game-changer in India’s four-wheeler EV space. With a compelling mix of affordability, technology, and trust, it has gone beyond metro markets, finding acceptance in Tier II and Tier III cities—effectively democratizing EV ownership in India. Now, MG is doubling down on this momentum with the launch of the Windsor PRO, a more powerful and versatile upgrade designed to attract both early adopters and mainstream buyers.
At the heart of the MG Windsor PRO lies a robust 52.9 kWh battery pack, delivering an impressive certified range of 449 km (MIDC P1 + P2)—one of the highest in its class. Mated to a front-mounted motor producing 136 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque, the Windsor PRO is tailored for city commuting, highway cruising, and even long-distance weekend travel.

Windsor is packed with safety features such as 6 standard airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Start & Descent Assist, All-wheel disc brakes, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold and 360-degree camera
The introductory ex-showroom price of ₹17.49 lakh positions the Windsor PRO as a high-value premium EV offering. Meanwhile, the earlier Windsor 38 kWh version—starting at ₹9.99 lakh with the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model and going up to ₹15.50 lakh without it—continues to appeal to budget-conscious buyers. MG’s multi-variant strategy, which includes the Excite, Exclusive, and Essence trims, ensures there's a Windsor for every kind of EV user.

The Windsor recorded 15,176 bookings within 24 hours of its launch—a record for the Indian EV segment, became the fastest EV to cross the 20,000 sales milestone and held the title of best-selling EV in India for seven consecutive months.
The MG Windsor PRO exemplifies how JSW MG Motor India is building a holistic and scalable EV portfolio. With its enhanced range, practical innovations like V2L/V2V, and expanding retail footprint, the Windsor PRO is not just a car—it’s a confident step toward a smarter, greener, and more empowered future for Indian mobility.
