More Retail reports 150 electric vehicles in 600-vehicle mid-mile fleet

More Retail says 150 of its 600 mid-mile vehicles are electric, including 110 Montra EVIATORs. The disclosed numbers put electrification at 25%, rather than the release’s headline suggesting a fully electric fleet.

More Retail says it now operates 150 electric vehicles in a 600-vehicle mid-mile logistics fleet, including 110 Montra Electric EVIATOR small commercial vehicles. Twenty-five of the Montra vehicles were flagged off in Bengaluru on October 1.

The retailer’s disclosed fleet figures imply an electric share of 25%. Its press release describes the transition as nearly 30% complete and uses a headline suggesting full electrification, but neither description matches 150 electric vehicles out of 600. Complete electrification remains an ambition.

The 25 vehicles handed over in Bengaluru are included within the reported 110 Montra vehicles, rather than being an additional fleet of 25. Montra accounts for about 73.3% of the reported electric vehicles and 18.3% of the overall mid-mile fleet.

More Retail said the vehicles have covered more than 8.8 lakh kilometres on its routes. The release does not give the measurement period or an independently verified operating-cost comparison, so the figure is attributed to the retailer and does not establish annual utilisation.

The deployment offers a concrete example of electric vehicles entering store-replenishment operations. Assessing its economics would require purchase or lease costs, charging expenses, route-level utilisation, maintenance and downtime.

The release’s projected daily distance and avoided-emissions estimate lack a disclosed baseline and calculation method. They have been excluded. More Retail and Montra have also not disclosed contract value, charging investment or a completion date for replacing the remaining vehicles.
