Tata Motors Ltd, the demerged commercial-vehicle business (formerly TML Commercial Vehicles), reported a strong first quarter: standalone revenue up 23% to INR 19,329 crore and pre-tax profit before exceptionals up 26% to INR 2,057 crore, though the EBITDA margin slipped 60 basis points to 11.7% on commodity costs. Free cash flow swung positive to INR 1,114 crore and the business held net cash of INR 7,100 crore. On consolidated numbers, pre-tax profit jumped 81%, boosted by a mark-to-market gain on its Tata Capital stake. It expects to launch the Iveco tender offer in early September.
