Wadi Surgicals begins domestic production of black nitrile gloves for foodservice
Production has started at about 60 lakh gloves a month, with plans to double, for a category served largely by imports. Pricing and investment were not disclosed.
Hyderabad-based Wadi Surgicals has partnered with Hubertus Medical Products of Andhra Pradesh to launch Enliva Active, a black food-safe nitrile glove aimed at hotels, restaurants and catering. Production has begun at about 60 lakh gloves a month, or roughly 7.2 crore a year, with plans to scale to about 1 crore a month, and the companies said they intend to develop export markets. Wadi describes Enliva Active as India's first dedicated black nitrile glove made domestically for the foodservice segment. Other Indian suppliers list black nitrile gloves for food handling, though as a product developed specifically for hotels and catering the company's positioning is narrower.
The companies did not disclose pricing, investment, or which partner manufactures the glove.
