AVPN brings Asia's largest social investment conference to India for the first time
Close to 2,000 funders and investors are meeting at Bharat Mandapam, the first India edition in the conference's 13-year history, with Temasek Foundation and Piramal Group among those attending.
The AVPN Global Conference opened at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, the first time in its 13-year history that Asia's largest social investment network has held the event in India. Close to 2,000 funders, investors, corporates and policymakers are attending. Union Minister of State Anupriya Patel delivered a special address on India's health agenda. Speakers include Piramal Group chairman Ajay Piramal, Temasek Foundation chief executive Boon Heong Ng, Indonesia's health minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, London School of Economics president Larry Kramer and Singapore Management University chairman Piyush Gupta.
The conference closed after three days at Bharat Mandapam, drawing more than 2,400 delegates from 52 markets, over 350 speakers and more than 140 sessions, under the theme 'A Blueprint for Action in Asia'. AVPN said the event produced new partnerships and regional initiatives, including a women's economic empowerment feature on its ImpactCollab platform, which connects funders to organisations that have been through due diligence, and the official launch of an ASEAN corporate social responsibility working group. AVPN did not disclose the value of any capital commitments made.
