Orxa Engies launches its EV motorcycle Mantis

Orxa Energies, a Bangalore-based EV startup, has launched its first flagship motorcycle, the Mantis, for Rs 3.60 lakh. The Mantis has been in development for over six years.

The Mantis has an angular appearance, with split seats, a sculpted tank, and a short rear section. The front has twin headlights and a distinct DRL. The bike features 41mm telescopic forks at the front, 17-inch alloy wheels, a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear, a 320mm disc and a 230mm disc at the front and rear ends, all-LED lighting, and minimal bodywork.

The Orxa Mantis has a wheelbase of 1450mm and a seat height of 815mm. The motorcycle is the lightest in the segment, weighing 182kg, thanks to a lighter battery pack, which is a structural part of the frame. In comparison to the concept shown at IBW 2022, the frame itself has been revised, as has used an aluminium subframe. It also has a ground clearance of 180mm.

The Orxa Mantis comes with an 8.9Kwh battery pack that powers a liquid-cooled BLDC motor that generates 27bhp and 93Nm of torque. The motorcycle does a 0-100kmph run in 8.9 seconds and has a top speed of 135kmph. It claims an IDC range of 221km. The Mantis gets a ride-by-wire system. A 3.3kW fast charger can charge the battery pack from 0 to 80 per cent in 2.5 hours.

The Orxa Mantis features a fully digital 5-inch TFT dashboard that runs the Orxa operating system, which is based on Linux. It comes with a side-stand sensor, Bluetooth, and smartphone connectivity. When paired with the motorcycle, the Mantis app on the smartphone can provide navigation, phone notifications, and ride analytics.

Orxa Energies has launched the Mantis for Rs 3.60 lakh for the variant with a 1.3kWh regular charger. The price of the variant with a fast charger has not yet been revealed. Pre-orders are now open for a nominal fee of Rs 10,000, with deliveries set to begin in April 2024 in Bengaluru and then expanding to other cities. Orxa has also said that it will announce the service partners soon.
