September passenger vehicle dispatches rise across major manufacturers

Passenger vehicle manufacturers reported higher September 2026 dispatches across several major brands, with Maruti Suzuki recording 181,838 domestic passenger vehicles, up 36.9% from a year earlier. Tata’s domestic passenger vehicle volumes rose 15.3% to 68,810, while Mahindra’s domestic SUV volumes increased 14.0% to 64,092.

The releases measure manufacturer sales or dispatches, rather than a complete count of vehicles bought by consumers. Exports and other vehicle categories have been separated wherever the companies disclosed them.

Hyundai’s total, including 20,750 exports, was 77,916. Maruti’s headline total of 236,013 also included 3,414 light commercial vehicles, 6,542 sales to other manufacturers and 44,219 exports. Neither headline is a domestic passenger vehicle figure.

Toyota reported 28,218 vehicles including 3,191 exports. Nissan’s total of 10,025 included 6,725 exports; its domestic increase was 99.8%, rounding to the company’s 100% headline. Renault reported 20% growth over August, not September 2025. Its January–September dispatches reached 35,378, up 36.7%; Toyota’s calendar-year total rose 8.1% to 294,914.

Tata separately reported 15,384 electric vehicles including international business, against 9,191 a year earlier. These are already within its passenger vehicle totals and cannot be added again.
