TCG's Cortex DC announces plans for 2 GW of data-centre capacity in India
The company targets its first facility's operational readiness within 18 months of construction starting, but has not disclosed a first-shovel date, site or project investment.
Cortex DC, a subsidiary of The Chatterjee Group, has announced plans to develop 2 GW of data-centre capacity across India for hyperscalers, cloud-service providers and artificial-intelligence workloads.
The company says it is targeting operational readiness for its first facility within 18 months of the first shovel. That timetable starts with construction, rather than the October 22 announcement. It has not disclosed when work will begin or the capacity of the first facility.
Cortex also plans to source 51% of its energy from green sources. The announcement does not identify signed power-purchase agreements, individual sites, committed customers or project investment.
“We are building it with speed, at scale and with a commitment to responsible energy,” TCG founder and chairman Purnendu Chatterjee said in the supplied statement.
Rahul Sharma is chief executive of Cortex DC, while Vinayak Pai chairs its supervisory board. The company says its site, power and partner workstreams are advanced. Its 2 GW ambition remains a development plan, rather than commissioned or demonstrably under-construction capacity.
