World EV Day 2025

On World EV Day 2025, Industry leaders and businesses reaffirm their commitment to supporting India’s shift towards clean mobility
Mr Vikas Singh, MD, Greaves Electric Mobility;
“As EV manufacturers, we aim to set benchmarks in what matter most to an EV customer – performance, durability, and care. From creating the country’s highest-range EV 3-wheeler to becoming the first EV 2-wheeler to scale Shipkila Pass at 13,200 ft., Greaves Electric Mobility, backed by Greaves group’s 165-year legacy of engineering excellence, we believe that trust and innovation is democratising this transition to clean mobility solutions. With this transition cutting across customer segments, ex – B2B, B2C, fleet operators etc., it is critical to ensure highest economic value and care for our customers. Hence, from developing LFP battery technology (which ensures better safety and recharge cycles), to having 3 manufacturing facilities backed by a 500 plus sales and service network, we are supporting India’s EV passenger and cargo traffic transition. It is a matter of pride to be a part of this journey and to partner with the Govt’s efforts that seek to make India the global hub of EV mobility.”
VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV);
As part of this vision, VECV is steadily expanding its electric vehicle portfolio with products like EV-first Eicher Pro X Small Truck, category-first Eicher 2055 EV and the Eicher Skyline Pro Electric bus, already deployed in several cities and finding traction in staff and school transport. To strengthen charging access for customers, VECV has partnered with Charging Point Operators enabling Eicher customers to access thousands of charging points across India. VECV is equally focused on sustainable manufacturing practices. Its Industry 4.0-enabled Bhopal plant features AI-driven energy monitoring, an all-women assembly line, and environmentally conscious design principles. Today, 42% of VECV’s total energy needs are met through renewable sources, backed by a 75 MW captive solar capacity, with a target of reaching 70% by FY27. The manufacturing facility also houses a 52-million-litre rainwater harvesting reservoir, capable of supporting operations for up to four months, reinforcing VECV’s aim to become water-positive by 2030. Collectively, these measures ensure that Eicher’s EVs are manufactured in one of the cleanest and most resource-efficient facilities in industry.
Uday Narang, Founder & Chairman, Omega Seiki Mobility
“On this World EV Day, I extend greetings to the business community and startups driving green mobility. Over the past year, India’s EV sector has moved from experimentation to consolidation, with stronger players and sustainable models emerging. It is encouraging to see the BJP-led government and leaders like CM Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh unveiling progressive EV policies, infrastructure incentives, and skill programs to make India a global EV hub. EV three-wheelers, both passenger and cargo, along with new-age electric trucks — especially in the 1-1.5 ton category — will be the real growth drivers of this market, powering clean last-mile and mid-mile logistics. The future of mobility is about building green businesses that deliver value to society, economy, and the planet — and together, we must accelerate this journey towards a cleaner tomorrow.”
Mr. Rajat Verma, Founder & CEO of LOHUM
“On World EV Day 2025, we reaffirm our commitment to building a cleaner, smarter, and more inclusive mobility future. Electric vehicles are not just about innovation in technology, but about reshaping our collective responsibility towards sustainability, energy security, and climate action. With the theme of Better Manifesto, this World EV Day highlights EVs' contribution to a greener tomorrow, and how every better choice accelerates us toward a sustainable world.”
Ampere, the electric 2-wheeler brand of Greaves Electric Mobility
Ampere announced major upgrades in its flagship electric scooter – Nexus, India’s Electric Scooter of the Year and holder of 5 National Records. With its LFP battery chemistry, Nexus now gets even more advanced through Nex.IO, an upgraded tech platform designed to deliver a fully loaded and connected riding experience. Ram Rajappa, COO Greaves Electric Mobility said, “With the introduction of Nex.IO, Nexus now comes with various tech innovations, elevating the riding experience by bringing next-gen digital features into the hands of our customers. This makes Nexus not just an award-winning scooter, but also a more attractive offering. It highlights Ampere’s focus on real-world performance, safety, and design, and reflects our aim to democratize smart, sustainable mobility across India while keeping customer delight at the core.”
Mr. Naresh Kumar, COO, Lauritz Knudsen
At Lauritz Knudsen, we see EVs not just as a greener alternative to conventional transport, but as a powerful driver of systemic change—accelerating climate action, fostering innovation, and advancing a more sustainable, efficient, and inclusive future. The government’s recent decision to maintain GST at 5% on EVs further strengthens this momentum, signalling a clear commitment to clean mobility. As part of this journey, Lauritz Knudsen is investing in future-ready EV charging infrastructure and smart energy solutions that make adoption more accessible, affordable, and reliable for all. Our focus is on supporting intelligent, scalable charging systems for homes, workplaces, commercial spaces, and public areas—backed by cutting-edge technology and adherence to the highest safety standards.
Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO&MD, Tata Power
"The launch of this fast-charging hub, developed in collaboration with Tata Motors, reflects our integrated approach to driving India’s green mobility transition. Strategically located and powered entirely by renewable energy, it sets a benchmark for future-ready EV infrastructure. As we roll out similar hubs in major cities, Tata Power remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering clean energy solutions and accelerating large-scale EV adoption across the country." This MegaCharger hub is adding to the 1000 + green charging points already deployed by Tata Power across Mumbai.
Tata Power
The Tata Power Company Limited (Tata Power), India’s largest vertically integrated power company and the country’s leading EV charging provider, joined hands with Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, India’s largest 4-wheeler EV manufacturer, to inaugurate Mumbai’s first premium, large-scale EV charging hub under the TATA.ev MegaCharger initiative. On the World EV day, this co-branded mega EV charging hub was jointly inaugurated by Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Power and Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited & Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited. Dinesh Arjun, CEO & Co-founder, Raptee
“Every player, established or emerging, is contributing by pushing technology and innovation forward. The government, on its part, has remained supportive through progressive taxation and policy measures that continue to encourage adoption. On the infrastructure front, charging networks are consistently expanding, thanks to the combined efforts of government initiatives, legacy OEMs, and Charge Point Operators (CPOs). This united effort is steadily breaking down barriers to entry for customers and making EV adoption more seamless than ever before. With all hands working towards a common goal, I believe we are on a growth trajectory that looks more positive than ever. The EV industry is no longer about the future, it is about the present.”
