EBG Group opens India's first Daewoo store
EBG Group has opened what it calls India's first Daewoo Experience Store, a 3,200 sq ft appliances showroom in Ghaziabad, and says it will invest INR 150 crore to open 100 such stores across India by 2027. Daewoo here is a licensed revival rather than the original Korean chaebol that collapsed in 1999: EBG signed a brand-licensing deal last month with POSCO International, which owns the Daewoo name, to make and sell Daewoo appliances in India. The bet is to revive a once-familiar badge in a market crowded by LG, Samsung, Voltas and Haier. One thing to check: EBG put the investment at INR 100 crore over three years only a month ago, against the INR 150 crore cited now.
