Bengaluru startup Island Computing opens its cloud platform to customers on 15 August, pitching Indian jurisdiction to banks, government bodies and startups. Founded in July 2025 by former Amazon engineer Vishal Sirohi, the company says it provisions environments in 90 seconds and runs 30% cheaper than comparable AWS Mumbai configurations on its own benchmark. It describes itself as India's first fully managed sovereign cloud, though Yotta, ESDS, CtrlS and NIC already sell sovereign or government cloud in India. The company has not disclosed funding, customers or data-centre locations.
