MediaTek reaffirms its India smartphone-chip lead as it pushes beyond phones
MediaTek used a showcase in New Delhi to reaffirm its lead in India's smartphone-chip market and to lay out a push beyond phones. The Taiwanese chipmaker said it held a 49% share of India's smartphone-chipset market in the second quarter of 2026, its 24th straight quarter at number one. It also detailed a 'One MediaTek' strategy extending its Dimensity chips into cars, data centres and AI PCs, citing more than 20 automaker partnerships. The event itself centred on smartphone-camera processing on its latest flagship chips.
Anuj Sidharth, Director, Marketing and Corporate Communications, India and SEA, MediaTek said, “With the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 flagship SoC and the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Premium SoC, we are meeting demand head-on. Equipped with next-generation AI-ISPs, the chipsets elevate computational photography without compromising on power efficiency.”
