A FICCI–KPMG in India report released at the 17th FICCI Global Skills Summit puts numbers to India's AI-jobs question. Citing NITI Aayog, it says the country's INR 23.28 lakh crore technology and customer-experience sector faces displacement risk in routine roles: QA engineers, Level-1 support agents, by 2031, against up to 40 lakh AI-augmented jobs over five years if reskilling begins now. The report also notes roughly 73.1% of Indian workers are informally employed, largely outside formal reskilling channels. Its recommendation is "dual-skilling", which includes AI literacy paired with judgement and communication skills.
