Tech Mahindra to build software for an indigenous 20-qubit quantum computer
Tech Mahindra has tied up with IISER Pune's quantum hub to build the middleware for an indigenous 20-qubit trapped-ion quantum computer, a research collaboration under India's National Quantum Mission, due by December 2026.
Tech Mahindra has partnered with I-HUB Quantum Technology Foundation, a quantum hub hosted by IISER Pune, to build the middleware for an indigenous trapped-ion quantum computer the hub is developing, a 20-qubit machine. Tech Mahindra will write the software layer that lets the quantum hardware talk to its control electronics, with the project due by December 2026. It is a research collaboration rather than a commercial contract, with no value disclosed, but it slots into India's National Quantum Mission and the sovereign deep-tech push, and gives a listed IT major a foothold in a field still years from commercial scale.
