Kia enters premium three-row SUVs with Sorento, hybrid from INR 29.99 lakh
The locally built Sorento is Kia's first hybrid in India, priced from INR 27.99 lakh for the diesel and INR 29.99 lakh for the hybrid, both introductory. Deliveries start today.
Kia India has launched the Sorento at introductory prices starting at INR 27.99 lakh for the diesel and INR 29.99 lakh for the hybrid, ex-showroom, entering the premium three-row SUV segment for the first time and introducing its first hybrid powertrain in India. Deliveries begin nationwide from 4 Sep 2026.
Both prices are introductory, so they are expected to rise once the initial allocation is sold. Kia has not said how long the introductory pricing will hold.
The hybrid is the more consequential of the two. Indian buyers in this price band have had few three-row hybrid options, and Kia says the Sorento is the first in its segment to pair a hybrid powertrain with all-wheel drive. The hybrid uses a 1.6 litre turbo petrol producing 180 PS and 265 Nm, paired with a 65 PS electric motor delivering 264 Nm. The diesel is a 2.2 litre unit producing 193 PS and 442 Nm.
The Sorento is built at Kia's Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh on the company's global N3 platform, and measures 4,815 mm long on a 2,815 mm wheelbase, in six and seven seat configurations. Kia lists 30 ADAS Level 2 plus features and up to 10 airbags.
Kia also says the India-specification Sorento carries the global debut of its AI Assistant with real-time generative AI, the first use of the technology anywhere in its line-up. A technology debuting worldwide on an Indian-built model would be unusual, and the claim is the company's own.
The Sorento has sold to more than 4.8 million customers across 132 countries over four generations and 24 years, according to Kia.
