Mahindra moves on first 800 acres for its largest plant
The 1,500-acre Nagpur facility will have capacity for over 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors a year. Mahindra has not disclosed the investment, the commissioning timeline or direct employment.

Mahindra and Mahindra is moving towards taking possession of the first roughly 800 acres for its largest integrated automobile and tractor facility, at Additional Butibori in Nagpur, though the company has not disclosed what the project will cost or when production will begin.
The greenfield facility, announced earlier this year, will be developed across 1,500 acres in Vidarbha, complemented by a 150-acre supplier park at Sambhajinagar. Once fully operational, Mahindra says it will have annual capacity of over 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors, making it the company's largest integrated manufacturing site in India. The supplier park will also serve Mahindra's existing plants at Chakan and Nashik.
Mahindra said it will set up a skilling centre in Nagpur covering mechanical operations, welding and painting, and that experienced staff from its existing plants will be able to apply for roles at the new facility over the next two to three years through a selection process weighing technical capability and alignment with company values.
The scale matters for Vidarbha, a region that has drawn far less manufacturing investment than western Maharashtra, and an integrated plant of this size would anchor a component ecosystem around it.
What the release does not say is what it will cost, when it will be commissioned, or how many people it will employ directly. Mahindra said further details on workforce requirements would be communicated as the project progresses.
