Tsuyo announces LvKON technology collaboration for electric commercial-vehicle powertrains
The companies plan engineering, manufacturing and testing work in India, while Tsuyo advances a proposed 24-acre greenfield facility.
Tsuyo Manufacturing has announced a technical collaboration with China's Suzhou Lvkon Transmission Technology to develop electric drive systems for commercial vehicles in India.
The October 23 announcement builds on a relationship that the companies say spans five years. It combines Tsuyo's local engineering and manufacturing operations with LvKON's experience in motors, transmissions, controls and integrated commercial-vehicle drive systems.
Tsuyo says it is advancing plans for a greenfield manufacturing facility of approximately 24 acres. The proposed site is intended to bring together powertrain engineering, manufacturing, testing and product validation. The release does not disclose its location, investment, annual capacity or commissioning date.
LvKON is expected to support product engineering, design validation, production processes, testing and after-sales infrastructure. Shorter development cycles and improved product maturity are intended benefits of the collaboration, rather than demonstrated results.
“Its experience across commercial vehicle applications provides a valuable technological foundation for addressing the performance, durability, efficiency, and reliability requirements of demanding operating environments,” Tsuyo founder and CEO Vijay Kumar said of LvKON in the supplied statement.
The companies intend to work on motors, transmissions, integrated drive systems and electronic controls for commercial applications. The announcement does not identify a new customer order, production start or equity investment between the partners.
